Founded in 1798, the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps is a government agency engaged in the promotion of health care and disease prevention programs. It is involved in the regulation of food and drugs; biomedical research; and mental health and drug abuse control programs. It offers health care professionals for several government agencies, including the National Institutes of Health, Department of Agriculture, Environmental Protection Agency, and Food and Drug Administration.
