TCF Bank is a terrible banking institution. We had a checking account there and a mortgage and they do not deal honestly with people. When we would pay our mortgage at the bank, we got late fees!!! You never want a mortgage with these people or a checking account! Go to Bank of the West instead. They are SO much better. TCF is headed by a liar at the top of the corporation and that filters down to the people underneath. We also went through a foreclosure and then only could interact with the collection department in Denver. Jeff Baumbach was the manager and people cursed at us through email, lied to us, refused to put agreements in writing, and when we asked for a copy of how they had been applying principal and interest from our payments, we received a statement that was crazy. For the last 5 years, only $1000 had been put toward interest and it was done inconsistently. If you want me to email you about all the craziness, let me know.
