I'll start off by telling you that my dog did not die as a result of the following story, but it's a darn good thing I wasn't brining him in for anything serious...

I understand that sometimes things happen, and that people cannot always be 100% punctual, but I was shocked when I was stuck waiting for over an hour for the office to open! Their website, as well as yelp, clearly state that their weekday office hours are from 7am to 7pm, but nobody arrived to the office until 8:30am on the morning of January 8th.

My dog and I did several laps around the block, checking the front door and calling their telephone number each time we reached the office again, only to find that they still weren't open over and over again. Unfortunately for my dog, I had to be to work by 9am, forcing me to head home to change into work clothes before heading to the office - he was stuck being uncomfortable since he couldn't be seen during their "office hours."

During these laps, I could hear dogs barking from the back of the building as I passed - and realized "My God - they board dogs here too! They're over an hour late to take care of dogs whose owners trusted them to look after!"

I left a message on their answering machine as well as a written note on the front door requesting that they call me as soon as possible. As you can imagine, I was none to pleased with the situation. Would you be?

At 8:37am, over an hour and a half after their doors were supposed to open, I received a phone call from Juliana who simply stated that she was running extremely late today. I voiced my frustration only to be met with a boat load of attitude from Juliana who spoke over me several times because she felt that all should be forgiven since she muttered the word "sorry."

She asked if I would still like to bring my dog in for a visit, so I requested we come in at 6:30pm, since their office hours state that they're open until 7. That wasn't going to work for them since it was so close to the end of the day according to Juliana, who continued with attitude during the entire exchange. I asked if she could check with the vet to see if they would stay late seeing that their posted office hours seem to fluctuate so drastically anyway - She HUNG UP ON ME! Huh?

Over two hours later I received a phone call from Miriam stating that I could be seen at 6:30pm. I had already made the smart decision to book an appointment elsewhere - at the Pasadena Pets Veterinary Hospital located at 2850 E. Foothill Blvd. - Pasadena, CA 91107 / (626) 568-1115. They were excellent and my dog is no longer in discomfort!

If you care for your pet at all, I recommend you take them elsewhere. Raymond clearly...

Wonderful Doctor

I just want to say Dr. Kay is one of the kindest most caring people I ever met.

My dog sugar was attacked by a neighbor's dog and badly injured. I brought Sugar into the Raymond Avenue Clinic just as they were closing and I was scared she might die because she was in really bad shape. Dr. Kay was on his way out and I was frantic. He stayed late to examine sugar and told me that she would need surgery.

He said that he would perform the surgery that same night and he did. He went above anything I had expected because not only did he stay, he made sure that his technicians stayed late too.

I will never forget that.

A few days later after I was able to take Sugar home, he gave me his personal cell phone number and told me to call if I had any questions. Being the neurotic mother that I am, I probably abused his kindness and called him at least 4 or 5 times over the weekend to ask him all sorts of things. If I did not reach him, he got back to me promptly and was very patient in allaying my fears.

Sugar ended up recovering from her vicious attack just fine and Dr. K did a wonderful job with the surgery.

I just want to give this man credit, because he treated Sugar and I with such care.

Thank you Dr. K.

Non-Delivery Of Services Paid For

My dog was due for a fecal exam to test for parasites. On January 27th 2010, Raymond Avenue Veterinary Clinic took the fecal sample I submitted and charged me $40. Nearly two weeks later and asking about it four times, Amber admitted that the test was never given and the fecal sample had been lost. After a few attempts to get around giving a refund, Amber claimed the $40 refund would be mailed out that day, February 9th. When it didn't come, my 5th attempt to correct the issue was made when I spoke to the office manager, Sara. Again a promise of a refund was given. It's been nearly one month since the service was to be done and they have been given 5 chances to rectify the mistake, yet they are full of excuses and false promises. Raymond Avenue Veterinary Hospital did not do the test, won't give back the money and the worst part is that my dog didn't get the test that could save his life---and they don't care.

DOUBLE CHARGE, ENDANGERED DOG, SUGGESTED DANGEROUS TREATMENT

IS THERE A WAY TO GIVE **ZERO STARS** ? I would suggest taking your animal ANYWHERE but here. The 24/7 TLC on Huntington and Freemont is a HUGE step up. This place WAS fantastic and we brought our 3 dogs very often for a variety of ongoing issues that were all taken care of. THEN DR. K CAME TO TOWN! I brought one of my dogs in with a split nail. The nail was cleanly split but only about 70% of the way up the nail. "No problem, we will take care of it". Over $500 later they handed me back a dog wrapped up and said, "Come back in a week or two." My dog kept limping several days later so I opened the wrapping and found that the end of the nail had been clipped and the nail was COMPLETELY SPLINTERED, BLOODY AND SHATTERED. I rushed back and was charged an additional $600 to REMOVE THE CUTICLE AND SHATTERED NAIL. I was told by MIRIAM (a nurse over there!) that SHE (NOT THE DOCTOR) glued the nail back together and didn't think it was going to work! (What the hell did I pay for???) I did what I should have done, and had kept my dog quiet and relaxed and off his feet. There is no way he could have inflicted this wound on himself. I was charged over $1100 to fix a split nail which resulted in nerve damage and the loss of the end of a toe to my dog!

When I complained about the price MIRIAM suggested that I used a CHEAPER sedative even though she agreed (DID NOT VOLUNTEER THIS INFORMATION) that it is much more dangerous for the dog because of his short snout!

DR K AND HIS STAFF SUGGEST YOU ENDANGER YOUR ANIMAL TO SAVE MONEY.

DR K AND HIS STAFF WILL DOUBLE CHARGE YOU FOR SOMETHING THEY DID NOT FIX RIGHT THE FIRST TIME THAT IS A *VERY* SIMPLE PROCEDURE.

MIRIAM ACKNOWLEDGED THAT SHE WOULD NEVER USE THE CHEAPER SEDATIVE ON HER OWN DOG.

After speaking to two other vets, this is something that should have cost $200 and healed in a week not $1100 and taken over a month with permanant damage.

Great Job!!

Abigail, my fourteen year old Golden Retriever, goes to Raymond Avenue for treatment of arthritis and other geriatric complications. We always feel like we're treated with respect and understanding. Dr. "K" always seems to understand what is happening with her and, through both western and homeopatic treatments, helps her symptoms. Abbey comes for acupuncture every week which really seems to help her get around in her old age. The staff is always happy and ready to help us. Thanks Raymond Avenue!
