The Pasadena Independent School District has an enrollment of more than 46,000 students. Pasadena ISD covers 85.5 square miles in portions of Pasadena, South Houston and Houston and offers area residents 33 elementary schools, two fifth grade centers 10 intermediate schools, five high schools and four alternative education facilities. For the seventh consecutive year, the district has been named a Texas Recognized District by the Texas Education Agency. Three of the district s campuses, Miller Intermediate, Jackson Intermediate and Matthys Elementary have been recognized as National Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence by the U.S. Department of Education. The district was founded in 1898.
