Wow, I cannot remember the last time I had customer service like this.

Under new ownership for about 1 1/2 years, Jim and his mechanics are here to serve.

To clearly illustrate the level of customer service received by these guys, it may be best to tell my story.

I recently bought a boat. It turned out to be a lemon. I took it to them and upon walking into their shop I had the owner and 3 other mechanics listening to my story and concerns. Can you imagine taking your car somewhere and having 4 people listening to you?

They charge $89 an hour to look over the boat (I initially thought this was high, but after talking with other boat owners their mechanics charge $110 per hour). Something was definitely broken. To learn more they were going to have to pull the engine ($300 charge). I asked them to look at it again to see if there were any other issues that would make this boat to costly to repair and save me money on pulling the engine. Free of charge, they took another good hard look and found the cracks in the engine without having to pull it. The extra level of customer service saved me $300.

Using the paperwork written up by Columbia Marine Center, I was able to convince the previous owner to take back the boat and give me my money back! Another $800 in my pocket!

Not even 1 day later I bought another boat. After my first experience I wanted to have these guys look at it right away. Again, as soon as I come to their shop 30 minutes before closing time, I had 3 people looking at my boat. FREE OF CHARGE they started teaching me about my boat! They checked the oil (apparently you don't want water in the oil), checked the motor, let me know what might need work in the future, etc etc etc. They reassured me that for the price I got a lot of boat. It took 45 minutes (so they stayed 15 minutes longer than needed). Again, the cost for this...FREE (I did buy 2-cycle motor oil and a trailer light to thank them for their excellent customer service).

I cannot recommend this place enough. I had one friend that said they took too long to fix his boat. I reminded him that he took it there under old ownership. New ownership has made a world of difference.

If you are a boat owner, or are even thinking of becoming a boat owner, go see these guys. Great, great people.

I was looking for moorage for my 21' boat I just bought. A friend said they are at Columbia Marine Center and told me I had to check them out. I went in and found a marina that had moorage, parts, a shop and it is right next to a boat ramp.

This is my first boat and I was putting it in the water, and I could not get my outdrive down. I went over to see if one of the technicians could help me and the owner came over to the boat ramp fixed it right there and did not charge me. When I told him this is my first boat He even met me at the slip to help me in. He told me all about the improvements that they are making to the marina and they are open 6 days a week. Everyone is so friendly there, the parts guy even remembered my name when I walked in a week later.

You have to check this place out!

Mechanical inability

No good. Had a motor freeze over the winter due to power loss. Had them work on it. Said the ran it and didn't see any leaks. Found out first run of the year the exhaust manifold had a crack in the top in plain view. Told them about it and said I should find another mechanic. What a waste of time and money.
