Provided by YP.comFrom the street, this little restaurant looks more like a take-out place, but once you enter, you find yourself in a spotlessly clean establishment with tablecloth-covered tables. The food was excellent and very well priced. All main courses were well under $20, and most were under $15.
We ordered the Roasted Chicken combination—half chicken, potatoes and salad. The chicken was tender and well seasoned (not too spicy for my cautious husband). I had the Peruvian Soup with Beef and Noodles—a large bowl with plenty of meat. Mine needed a little salt for my taste, but better less than more, I always say. The serving sizes were very adequate.
While waiting for the entrée, we were served some tasty corn nuts—not the tooth-breaking kind you find in store packages. These were soft, yet crunchy and delicious.
For an appetizer we tried the Leche de Tigre, a seafood marinade which was a little too strong for our tastes. Being unfamiliar with this lime-based dish, we were a little shocked. If you are used to Leche de Tigre, you’ll probably enjoy this dish, but if not, be careful.
We were introduced to an absolutely delicious non-alcoholic beverage—Chicha Morada—a drink made from purple Peruvian corn and flavored with boiled pineapple rind, cinnamon and clove. It would be worth going back a second time just to give that beverage another try!
For dessert we had another dish topped with the same purple corn base—Mazamorra Morada. Delicious! Also—Cream Caramel, Peruvian Style.
If you are interested in giving your taste buds a new experience—something besides spaghetti and meatballs or hamburger, give this new restaurant a try. We will certainly go back again.
We enjoyed the quiet dining, interrupted only occasionally by the cheering from a soccer game on the flat screen television in the corner.
My only suggestion—instead of fries, serve a few of the hundreds of varieties of potatoes grown in South America.
