Thunder Ridge Ski Area, located in Patterson, N.Y., is a ski sport area that offers a range of facilities for visitors. The area features more than 25 trails, chairlifts, T-bar, handtow, and magic carpet with slow slopes to meet the needs of beginners and snowboarders, and advanced trails for the expert skiers. Additionally, it offers racing for professional skiers. Thunder Ridge does not wait for the first snowfall of the year, and makes its own snow over the entire mountain with its advanced snow making system that can cover more than 100 acres with white, soft powder. The ski sport area is maintained by tower-mounted and fan snow cannons that work along with an air and water system. Thunder Ridge also maintains a groomer fleet to keeps the snow in good condition for skiing and snowboarding.
