Southern Oaks is a joke! Period. And this is coming from someone who has worked there! For 8 months I've watched Southern Oaks go down hill ever since the new DON has taken charge. She has came at me with rude accusations about incidents that's taken place. 1, there ARE plenty of other ways to find something out rather than "tell me what you did wrong!?" questions. Um, YOU tell me because when I left everyone was fine. There is always, always drama. They worry more about drama than they do the residents. What is really sad? Poor idiotic accusations are being pointed at the wrong people, whom are, the only real good nursing staff they have left there. The DON & other snobby know-it-alls are truly pushing away the FEW good nurses and aides they have. The place does not have structure, honesty, & clearly any brains. When state comes for a visit, everybody "fake it til they make it" then back to their slack. And for the care of the residents? Ha, what care? Falls after falls because an "alarm-free facility" has a nice ring to it though it actually has gotten worse. Bed sores turn into much worse wounds. There's only a handful of aides, maybe that, who aren't too lazy and actually do their job. I was one of them. I loved hearing that from the residents. I would still be there if the BS just simply stopped but they certainly didnt pay me enough for that. Maybe one day Southern Oaks will realize something needs to be changed but it won't be until it's too late, that's for sure. That is only a little of what's wrong there.

From the moment I walked into to this Nursing Home, it smells very awful. And the Nursing Administration really doesn't return phone calls to family members, if they have a family who is a patient in there care. And there patient refuses to eat there regular meals, they complain that they can't eat the lunch meals and the dinner meals. And the patients are lossing weigth in there care. They need to have better cooks, and have better meals for the patients. The Nursing Staff, is not honest enough to tell the truth about a patient, to the Doctor, and they Do Not listen to the Patients, they only do what they think they want. I do understand that some patients are not able to make the right choices. Although I know for the patient that I am talking about is more than able to make the right choices, and has for a long time. And can make phone calls themselves. Although when family members drive from out of town and visits there family members, for a very short moment, the nursing staff, actually the LPN's told us that we had to leave. Our family member is put in this place against there will, and now it is a battle to get them out, Due to the Administration is listening to some one who is not family at all. They are not willing to really help the family and the patients.
