2/13/2012 STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!! THEY'RE RUNNING A SCAM WITH CREDIT CARD NUMBERS I searched google for "portuguese pizza in peabody" and this place came up. I called them and asked if they delivered and they told me yes. I then asked if I could get a pizza with sherice. He tells me "sure... whatever you want". I said how long and he tells me about 45 minutes. I then tell him I want to pay him over the phone with my debit card. I give him the numbers (and he repeats them back every 4 numbers) and tells me I'm all set. An hour and a half goes by and still no delivery to my door. I call them up to ask where it is and the guy that answers the phone tells me has no idea what I'm talking about. He then puts the owner on the phone who tells me the same thing. I explain everything to him and he tells me he has no idea what I'm talking about (and seems rude about it as well). I ask him what kind of business they're running over there and he tells me "I don't know". Now I'm concerned about my credit card info being out there with some idiot who answered the phone at this place. I tell the owner I'm coming down there to talk to him face to face... he says "come on by". I go down there the next day and walk into the place and ask where the owner is. The bartender points over to the guy in the kitchen area. I told him he has one of two options - ether tell me what happened yesterday or I call the police and they can find out. He tells me "call the police". The Peabody police show up and the owner hands them a menu (I have no idea why). They go in the back area with the owner to talk to him. 2 minutes later, the owner calls the bartender back there to speak with the police. (The owner goes back to his cooking while the rest of them are talking). The police pull me aside after and tell me that it was all a misunderstanding and that the bartender was the one who took my call and thought I was a friend who was joking around with him on the phone. (During this time, the owner is now sitting at the bar - as if he's a customer). The owner kept very quiet all this time and never apologized or seemed to have even cared about this situation - which leads me to believe that 1) he is running some kind of scam operation there or 2) is just a plain a**hole that shouldn't be in business. DON'T TRUST THESE PEOPLE.
