Awful! Intake twisted words and flat out lied. Saw anactual psychiatrist on the 6th day. He asked 2 questions and changed diagnosis and medication. Went from being forced to take medication his NP diagnosed for bipolar to just an antidepressant. Hit max amount of stay they could give and then after much abuse and patient rights were violated was I then aloud to leave. Went in looking for rest and de stressing....left with a severe case of PTSD. The director is a serious joke!

TO EVERYONE THAT HAS POSTED AN HONEST REVIEW HERE - THANK YOU!

PLEASE READ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All I can say right now to each of you (Rodney & Chip you were either at a completely different facility or you work for LBH) to the rest please allow me to express my heartfelt thanks to you for your honesty and courage.

Our son on the ASD spectrum with presentations of Schizophrenia. Since relocating to Georgia from Los Angeles we have encountered the full spectrum of experiences. From absolute mental, physical, and emotional cruelty and disdain to levels of compassion, caring, understanding and excellence that defy explanation.

However, one of our most horrific experiences was the night that we took our son to the ER and waited for over 11 hours for him to be 'assessed', only to have a 1013 slapped on him. He was thrown into the State Hospital where we were told they had no idea how to deal with Autism. REALLY!?!!?

It terrifying and horrific. We had to threaten a lawsuit to get him out. We partnered with CHOA and the Marcus Institute - and once we were lawyered up they suddenly saw fit to release him after keeping him for eight days, at which point his records disappeared. Even after securing a court order to obtain his records were told that the records were not available. We were then told that the social worker who has been assigned to us, suddenly quit about a week after this all happened.

Our son later spent a week at Peachford and we had a much different experience. I have since learned that were really lucky because the reviews for Peachford are not much better than LBH!!

The point of that little diatribe is to say THANK YOU, THANK YOU, and THANK YOU!!!

We have been to hell and back, as have most of you and while my heart goes out to all of you for having had to endure such pain, humiliation and intimidation at the hands of 'mental health' monsters, I am so very grateful that you took the time to sit down at your computer, tablet, smart phone, etc. , get online and write a review. You didn't have to do it, but you did and because of you my son will be spared yet another hellish experience.

We were just about to take him to LBH when I saw your reviews. Whew!!

Thank God for you all!

So now this is me wrapping my arms around you, giving you a HUG and telling you that you are loved, appreciated and you now have a virtual friend sending you love and blessing and praying for you.

We are SO grateful!!

This place is a prison. It's nasty... bathrooms are not cleaned. Scum around every corner, dust everywhere.

The techs are ghetto, unqualified and mean. They try to provoke you to lash out.

If you ask a technician for help, you won't get it. If you do get it, it will take hours.. and they will roll their eyes and heavy breathe on you. I had to wash my clothes in the sink because no one would show me where the laundry room was.

They will not knock on your door before entering. For women, this is a violation, because male techs don't knock on females doors either. They will open your door all night until around 3AM. You will have a roommate. If your roommate snores, they will not switch your room. The nurse will bust in your room before the crack of dawn to take your vitals. She'll heavy breathe on you if you don't wake up on a dime...

They lock the room doors around 7:45 AM. If your meds make you tired, you cannot lay down. If you don't take your meds, stay in your gown during the day, refuse to leave your room, clap back at staff.... they will hold it against you and say you are not getting better, and you can't leave.

There is no individual therapy. You are required to go to fake group therapy 4 times a day. It is not targeted therapy, and if you don't participate, it is held against you. I came in for having suicidal thoughts ( 72 hour 1013?) related to medical problems I have. In group, they would ask me questions about how to handle anger and communicating with others. That's not something I needed help with. The group sessions make you more depressed because they ask way too many personal questions and want you to share with strangers. I was also placed with people who were detoxing from drugs, and people who actually attempted suicidal. I should not have been mixed in w/ these people. When your are not in group, you are vegetating in front of the television.

I could continue, but this is a rotten place. Their job is to keep you safe while you there, and make you so miserable that your doctor sends you back. You will be more depressed when you leave. If you can't hide the fact that you are still depressed, they will not discharge you, and by Georgia law, they don't have to. Find a place that has both individual and group therapy, and has doctors that will check on you. I've been home for 24 hours, and can't adjust because I've been institutionalized.

THE WORST

This place is horrible. TO begin with, the staff is rude and uneducated;ratchet if you will. A loved one of mine was transferred here, and it's been complete hell. From him being kept over 72 hours to them trying to make him out to be crazy when he is not. This place also STINKS. I would advise you and your family to turn else where if you're looking for some type of help. THIS PLACE IS A COMPLETE AND UTTER JOKE.

Any of the reviews on this cite praising this facility are bogus - written by staff - likely with the threat of being fired if they did not write the review.

Run away from this place. Unless your loved one is absolutely insane and needs to be tied to a bed immediately and you happen to be right outside the door, do not let them go here. It is not a mental heath facility - it is a prison. They will hold you against your will - yes I even called 911 and the police officers could not get my family member out - because in georgia they abuse the FORM 1013 and related law to keep you there even if you want to leave. They simply have a nurse (qualified or not in this case) sign the 1013 when the police arrive. They signed it right in front of me and the police in an almost sadistic way. It was like they felt they were showing me how powerful they were and how I, nor the police, could do anything about it. While I was not able to get through the doubled locked doors, my fried how was imprisoned reported how terrible they treated the patients - it was absolutely reprehensible. Condescending, dismissive, insensitive, rude, arrogant, and abusive are all the adjectives I heard about the staff. The staff uses fear tactics used in prisons to keep everyone docile. If you do not just sit and watch TV all day they will threaten you with "I'll send you upstairs" where they confine you to your room like a prison.

Run, don't walk.

I didn't know what to expect when I arrived at Lakeview. I had been in treatment before with disappointing results. To my surprise, the staff was compassionate, the facility calm and peaceful, and the food tasty. I would recommend Lakeview to anyone considering drug treatment.

I agree with both previous reviews. This place is HORRIBLE. They are very unprofessional. No updates from docs or "therapists". Whenever you call them the staff says the same thing, "They are fine." They will tell you this even if the patient tells them they are having scary hallucinations. I had to contact a patient advocate just to get the doctor to call me ONCE. My child came out WORSE than when they went in...suicidal upon discharge. Family therapy is just for parents to say what they want the kid to do. No helping with the issues and no explanations on the services they are providing. Also, not only are they not allowed outside at all, but my child was thankful to even just see the outside. Apparently there are not many if any windows that the adolescent patients can even look out of according to my child. Great way to make them feel more isolated and depressed.

I totally agree with cn1962...awful place! Adult unit is even worse. I believe Gwinnett Hospital gets a "kick back" for sending people to this place! Horrible experience! The staff are cruel to the patients and DO NOT know what they are doing as far as taking care of different conditions. They have "rules" and schedules but they DO NOT follow them. They DO NOT listen to your complaints and even if they do, they don't do anything about them. For the price this place charges for your so called treatment, their equipment doesn't work, they run out of everything including food, linens, even toilet paper! The nurses make medication errors and when you ask for something that your doctor has ordered, they ignore you or won't let you have it. They seem to enjoy seeing you suffer! Even saw them laughing about the stuff that they do! They "lost" my belongings. Yes, they have groups but if you are there on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday it's a waste of time and money because "they don't count those days" even though you are still charged for those days! They put on "a good show" for the families but when the families are not around it's terrible in there! A doctor is supposed to see you within 24 hours of admission and a Social Worker is supposed to see you within 72 hours of admission but these things rarely happen. If you complain or file a grievance then you are considered "needy" or "trouble" and you WILL be punished! They DO NOT follow The Georgia Patients' Rights law because they violate almost all of your rights! They give you the paper which states your rights and it says if your rights have been violated to contact their Patient Advocate but that is a joke also because you can't get in touch with that person! If you tell your family, (when they let you use the phone), what is going on they will lie to your family about everything that you have complained about! Everything this place claims to be and to do for the patients, (which is in writing given upon admission), is NOT true! I was extremely traumatized being in this place and I still have nightmares about it! PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE OR SEND OR LET A FAMILY MEMBER OR FRIEND GO TO THIS PLACE!!!

DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE

Horrible place. Nothing more then a detention center. No therapy, unprofessional staff, no plan, no parent follow up or advisement, worst mistake of our lives. Please review this as it will save your insurance as well as your family time and money and mental anguish. Atrium makes facility look " state of the art". What happens behind the scenes is this is an office building transformed into an adolescent detention facility.Bill you and insurance co. For as many days stay as possible. Did not provide one word of encouragement or therapy. Weren't allowed to discuss feelings or were isolated. Not one single positive thing to say about our experience with this facility. Teens are "scared straight" into never wanting to return to this facility again. Please take our advise. Don't go there!
