The Bureau of Forestry is a part of the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, which is responsible for maintaining and preserving more than 100 parks and over 20 state forests. Also known as DCNR, the parent company provides information on the state's ecological and geologic resources. Established in 1995, it also establishes community conservation partnerships with grants. The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources offers technical assistance for rivers, trails, greenways, open space, natural areas, and local and regional heritage parks. With approximately 1,400 employees, the parent company additionally hosts various environmental education programs on several topics, such as hiking, camping, wildlife and plant species.
