I used to live in western NY always took my machine to PYSM. He always did excellent work at a good price. Now I live in SC. My 40 year old machine, which I love, quit on me so I took it north when I went to visit family. I dropped it off at PYSM and arranged to have my son pick it up when it was ready. When he came south a few months later I got it back. It was a broken gear (40years old) Now my machine quit again- this time an electrical problem. I am going back to PYSM. There is no one I trust to work on my machine like PYSM or give me advice on a possible new one. Won't go anywhere else.

We were camping in the area and I am an RV Quilter. My Bernina Nova had a capacitor burn up while we were camping near Ithaca. I called Penn Yan Sewing and Harvey told me if I brought it over, he would fix it while I waited. He replaced both capacitors and charged me a whopping $ 10.00 (ten dollars). I bought a few nice notions that they had on the wall. I highly recommend this shop if you have a sewing machine of any type that needs repair or are looking for a new or used one. He has many to choose from.

They have repaired my machine for FAR less than the dealer I bought it from! Ii was quoted $900.+ from the original dealer, and less than $300. from Penn Yan Sewing Machines. I job was excellent, service great and a more than fair price. I returned to have another machine cleaned and services plus scissors sharpened. They are so nice, and fair I am willing to drive the 50 miles to get to them. I highly recommend!!!

Mennonite owned & operated Penn Yan Sewing Machines is absolutely EVERYTHING one could hope for in a business dedicated to sewing machine sales, service & repair. Leroy Sensenig and his family pursue the highest standard in all they do... the means by which they have created a strong & growing base of happy new & return customers through honest ethics, top quality sewing machine service & repair as well as through years of word-of-mouth advertising distributed by their many satisfied customers. Another way PYSM sets itself apart is reflected in the prices asked for work that's always exceptional, never disappointing. I have always been delightedly amazed by their desire to be just as fair to my wallet as to themselves... so refreshing! On a scale of 5 stars this business rates a TEN as I agree w/ Haggs 47's comment: PYSM is committed to "satisfying customers" and it truly shows in all they do!

I bought my Bernina from a Bernina shop in Rochester. I took it back for service twice (for a specific problem) and in spite of having it a few weeks, they failed to fix the problem either time. Finally, PY SM was recommended by a friend so I took it there. Fixed beautifully! Price was extremely reasonable! My 2nd Bernina is there now for a problem and to be cleaned. It is ready for pick up and I am sure it will be perfect. It's about an hour and a half drive, nice on a lovely day and well worth it!

I took my Bernina apart years ago trying to service it myself and went one step too far and dropped some of the cams off their shaft. Oops... I went to two local sewing machine service shops, one a Bernini shop, and neither could repair it. The Bernina guy would not listen when I tried to tell him what I had done and not to try running it because it would complicate matters. He apparently did try to run it and made it worse and then told me it would have to go back to the factory and the price was way high so the machine sat for years. I recently took it to Penn Yan, told them my story and what I had done, full history. It didn't faze them. Three weeks later I had it back and it is running line a Swiss watch, smooth, quiet and wonderful and the price was less than half what had been told me before. Why did I wait so long?? Not only that but we got to browse through the store, which is very nice with reasonable prices and had a beautiful drive and fun day, both delivering and picking up.
