The physician's staff refused to see a sick child because the child had not been seen in the office as a new patient. The child's father had already scheduled a new patient appointment when the primary physician was changed. FYI: new patient appointments can only be scheduled during certain times and a new patient can wait up to 3 weeks to be seen. Don't get sick or require medical attention in the meantime, you'll be told to go to the emergency room like this child's parents were told to do. The child's parents had just switched primary providers to this physician's office after the family's original primary physician moved to another state.
