The shop is filthy and smelly. Employees DELIBERATELY put in less wax worms in containers and then they split the amount in half just to over-price to customers. Most of the wax and horn worms are dead, yet the employees LIE and say they are alive to still sell dead, smelly worms. The horn worms are not fed with fresh chow, and the horn worms starve and eat their own poo. A bearded dragon is in a tank located near the front close to the register, and the dragon's tank is full of sand and the dragon is very thin and it looks impacted. The employees are VERY DISHONEST and VERY RUDE. I will never buy from there again, and their unprofessionalism lost me as their customer including many other customers.

Been coming here for years, so much so that when I call they know who I am. Mike and gang are super knowledgeable. They will tell straight up what you need to do and what not to do. Great selection of fish both freshwater and saltwater. Check them out!

Oh the haters. The employees at Value Pet are some of the friendliest pet guys you could ask for. They are knowledgeable and attentive (even when they are slammed busy). My girlfriend and I have purchased fish, worms, shrimp, crickets, tanks, etc from this store and have been absolutely satisfied with all of our experiences. My name is Mike and I just wanted to take the time to protest the lame posts on this thread bashing these hard working people and their awesome store. Oh and they let those bunnies out all the time and let people cuddle them, so stuff it. :)

During a visit to this establishment I observed that four rabbits were sharing a very small cage which appeared dirty and inappropriate in size. I also observed an overcrowded parakeet cage and multiple crickets on the floor. As a pet owner and animal lover, I left this store feeling disturbed and questioning whether this store is in compliance with the New Jersey animal cruelty statutes. I have notified the NJSPCA of the conditions I observed.
