Peoria Public Works Department operational services are provided by the streets, solid waste, transit and fleet divisions. Its solid waste division is responsible for residential and commercial waste collection service, as well as loose trash collection, recycling and household hazardous waste collection. The department s streets division is responsible for street maintenance, signals, signs, striping, street improvements, stormwater drainage, sweepers, grading, street light repair and the adopt-a-street program. Through the engineering department, Peoria Public Works Department is responsible for providing in-house professional engineering services including reviewing of private development projects, providing mapping and record drawing information related to offsite improvements, implementation of capital improvement, projects relating to streets, drainage and traffic signals.
