Unfortunately, Dr. Cutler and the hygienist failed to inform me at my routine check up in Sept. of 2011 that I had 5 cavities. I was told I needed two fillings repaired and no mention of 5 cavities. I have received various dental procedures (fillings, root canal, wisdom teeth extracted, and orthodontics) at Perfect Teeth and hadnât had any prior issues. However their negligence of not disclosing I had 5 cavities lead to financial difficulties and serious chronic oral pain. When I returned for my next 6 month check up in April of 2012 they then informed I had 5 cavities. I was confused how I could get 5 cavities in such a short time frame. Dr. Cutler informed me it must have been a miscommunication on her part that I was not told 6 months ago. She also disclosed since I may have been maxed on my insurance that I may have wanted to wait. I was not given a choice or even informed of the cavities prior. The only reason I found out was by the dates on the x-rays and questioned why I wasnât told. I believe itâs a patientâs right to their medical information and not a Dr.âs presumption of their financial situation to withhold information based on assumption. I then followed the dental treatment plan as recommend by my dentist and got the 5 cavities filled. At the end of the procedures Dr. Cutler said if my bite seemed off to contact her. The next day I my jaw and mouth were extremely painful, but I thought it would wear off. The pain continued the following days, so I called in and made an appointment. The day of my appointment I was called and told it was canceled, since the Dr. Cutlerâs daughter was sick. When I final did go in she said my bite seemed fine but did a little filing. She said my jaw may be sore since I had it opened for a long time. She prescribed antibiotics, steroids, and pain killers. I was in a lot of pain and my teeth were very sensitive. The prescription for the pain killers was not strong enough and I had to be prescribed something stronger. The pain still continued and due to everything thus far, I decided to get a second opinion. I had to have a root canal on one of the fillings and get a crown. Dr. Cutler should have known and not have placed that big of a filling and/or placed a barrier prior to the filling. I may have to have another root canal on one of the 5 cavities she filled. I already have the referral from my dentist, so thatâs possible another root canal and crown. I have spent a lot of money to have dental work redone that could have been possible prevented had I been told about my cavities when they showed up in the x-rays. The financial doesnât even compare to the pain that I have suffered due to a narcotic tooth. I had to be on pain killers for nearly two months and take time off for work for dental appointments and sick days for the pain. I seek to have my money and insurance refunded due to Perfect Teethâs negligence and their unwillingness to resolve this on a personal level. The office manager Marcia has been nothing but rude, unapologetic, unsympathetic, and unprofessional. She should not be managing, as she doesnât have the skills necessary to deal in a professional matter. She told me Dr. Cutler would refund my money, however it had to get approved by Keegan their regional director. This tells me Dr. Cutler knows that things had not been handled properly and wanted to make things right. However, Marcia, the regional director, and district manage denied the refund.
