I would advise my music friends in Peoria to avoid using Kidder Music for instrument and bow repairs. Several weeks ago, I took two of my bows in to be rehaired. When I picked them up, I noticed very little hair was put on the bows. I decided to let this go and continued to play as normal. Then, several days later during one of my shows, almost all of the hair on the bow fell off. So I took the bow back to Kidder Music to be repaired for the second time. They agreed to fix it free of charge. Several days after that I had another show. At that time, I discovered that the bow that one of those bows would no longer tighten. I switched to my second bow. This bow the proceeded to lose a large quantity of hair. I took both of the bows back to Kidder Music and spoke with the person in charge of bow repair. I found him to be rather unpleasant. He was particularly argumentative and accused me of doing something to break the bows. After explaining to him that I did not break the bows, he admitted it was possible that he had received a bad batch of horse hair and agreed to fix the bows for a second time free of charge. I got the bows back and played one of them for a few weeks with no apparent problems. But, during a show on Saturday, I picked up one of the recently repaired bows, played one note and literally all of the hair on the bow fell off. Obviously, the bow was completely unusable. Today I took it back to Kidder and got a refund for all of the bow rehairing. I will no longer do business with Kidder Music and I recommend you do the same.
