My child had a life threatening food allergy and PES doesn't take it seriously enough. Last year, my child's teacher brought cookies into the classroom that she knew my child couldn't eat...when I confronted her, she said, "I knew he couldn't have them, but I just really wanted a cookie." I couldnt believe it. To put my child's life in jeopardy for a cookie! Yes, I went to the principal, but nothing really happened. This year, my child's teacher blatantly refused to let the parents know that there is a child with a food allergy in the class. She said that she couldn't control what is brought in her room. As a teacher, you have every right to control what's brought into the classroom, especially if it's due to a life or death situation. Instead, I had to again go to the principal and it was finally sent home once at the end of this school year in small print on the weekly homework newsletter. It's frustrating. I will be getting a 504 for next school year!

I am completely happy with my daughter's education and instruction at Perkinston Elementary. She started in another elementary school in kindergarden which I was completely disgusted with the teachers and students attitudes and personalities. She has grown so much since switching to Perk, and she will stay in this school district until she graduates. Although I miss her previous principal (who is NOW the superintendent) the vice principal really stepped up to the plate and they are still under great instruction. Students are required to wear uniforms (khaki, navy blue, royal blue, and white) but they are able to focus on school instead of who is wearing what. It really sets the ideal mood for learning. Keep up the great work!!!
