As an ER patient received good care, however, the information entered regarding my exam was inaccurate on many levels. A highly incorrect weight was entered, from a physical done years ago. This inaccurate weight was provided to the surgeon and anesthesiologist who were to do the surgery I needed. I I had not caught the error myself, I could have received way too much anesthesia. Other information was also taken from an assessment done years prior. Exams that the ER report says were done were not done. Example, I had a broken arm & was unable to hold anything with my dominant hand. The person writing the assessment states my handgrip is normal, however, she never checked it. It's a month since this event and I am still doing many things (brushing teeth, turning door knobs) with my non-dominant hand due to continued weakness.
I received good care in the ER, but I find it inexcusable that things written in my permanent record were clearly falsified, especially something as such as using a weight from about 7 years prior. This could have been disastrous had I gone to surgery with the incorrect weight used to calculate the dose of anesthesia. I expected better from Mercy Health. I am a retired RN from Mercy. The errors and use of old information being documented as current findings has greatly saddened me to to see.
