Process was rushed. Auctioneer holds full-time job & does auction service on the side. Arrived at estate to pack items & had to use our bubble wrap. Packing rushed & not prepared. Picked only certain items. Pulled out the silverware drawer in my mothers kitchen, up-ended it & dumped it into a box. Didnt have time to take several items, said he'd come back but didnt (then said he'd place at his next auction) At auction, was not familiar with merchandise to offer any description other than "a box of books" or "a big knife". Did not generate urgency or encourage bidders. When auctioning larger items in another area, main room with valuables unsupervised. Promised a contract but never got one to us by auction date. After auction did not return our phone calls. We'd never done this before & wish I had done more research. What happens to items not purchased? Are there any additional charges? One of our items was very valuable & had a reserve on it. We thought it was great that we could be protected. But when the item didnt sell, we did not know there was a "buy back" charge. This was a very sensitive, emotional time for my family. I am sharing my experience so that hopefully, it doesnt happen to anyone else.
