I love good Greek food and have been a fan of Papa's Taverna for many years.

Papa's recently came under new ownership and all changes I've seen have been fantastic.The new owners, Glynnis and Ted, and their managment staff are very visible. available, helpful and friendly. They seem to treat everyone like invited guests that they are genuinely delighted to see! The food prepared by the new chef, Yoirgos Kolybaskos is outstanding. Everything from the greek horitaki salad, to the authentic greek entrees, and the irrestible desserts(i.e. baklava, bugatsa, even creme brule) is homemade, using all fresh ingredients, and presented like works of art, served by pleasant wait staff. Linen tablecloths and napkins, matching silverware, and the blue decor have improved the ambience considerably. The location, right on the Petaluma River, is still one of Papa's most unique features. Upstairs dining in the River Room is pleasant and intimate The sunsets over the river are incredible. Downstairs, The Music Room, with dance floor and full old fashioned bar, still features live Greek music and dancing, and professional belly dancers on weekends, and the same great food. Newly added is a Friday Night Happy Hour from 4:30-8PM with $2 draft beer, $5 appetizers, and hot local bands that really rock, playing music you can actually dance to. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who loves a great time, Greek food, or is looking for a unique experience right here in the Sonoma County, with views and prices to please everyone.
