The Andor Wenneson Inn was built in 1904 along the tracks of the Southern Minnesota Railroad, now the beautiful Root River State Trail. Built by businessman W. Andor Wenneson, the hotel served rail travelers coming through Peterson for many years. The building changed hands several times, also serving as a boarding house and eventually as apartments. It then sat empty for about ten years. In 1994, it was completely restored and renovated to its historical beauty and charm. In 2001, the carriage house was built into four more rooms, making a total of nine rooms in the Inn. Each room is complete with a private bath available for guests, including two with whirlpool tubs. The third-floor suite has two bedrooms and a sitting room; with elegant dormers and window seats overlooking the courtyard and bluffs. The Andor Wenneson Inn was built in 1904 along the tracks of the Southern Minnesota Railroad, now the beautiful Root River State Trail. The Wenneson is a very clean B&B. It is close to local trails, and there's a very nice restaurant within shouting distance. Unfortunately, that's as nice a thing as I can say. The Inn touts itself as historic, and does a reasonably good job appearing so at first glance. However, most "Historic" B&B's I've been to have a real balance of modern amenities and historic charm. The "history" here seems to end at the lack of electrical outlets, in room phones, or cell service. Besides the still-functioning pump organ, which was gorgeous, many of the antiques were clear reproductions. The owners seemed uncomfortable with their guests, prepared an underwhelming breakfast, and were incredibly protective of their thermostats (post-its were all over demanding the temperature control be left at exactly 74). I shared a room with another for three nights, and we were given four towels. This may seem like an odd complaint, but there was no turn down service of any kind (not uncommon, I know), and no towel rack in our bathroom, so the options were using a damp towel or hanging your towel(s) over the chairs in the room. I was generally unimpressed with my stay, and will not stay their again.

My husband and I stayed there ...

My husband and I stayed there for 2 nights and I felt like I needed a vacation from my vacation. The service was rude and seemed forced. I don't think they have owned the place for very long but it shows that they don't know how to run a service based business. There is a rule for everything it seemed like and I wish I would have stayed somewhere else. Also no cell phone coverage.

Don't go here if your planning on staying more than 1 night. The service wasn't very good, we ran out of toilet paper and also had to supply our own garbage bags. They also didn't seem very fond of having kids stay there. We couldn't change the temperature of the room and generally felt like they didn't want us there.

The service didn't live up to my expectations. I don't think my expectations are very high either. The place was clean, maintained, and looked good but lacked in hospitality. Pam and Barry might be good people but they don't know how to run a B&B.

Overall, a bad experience. Not very friendly owners, breakfast seemed like a last minute plan, weren't allowed to change the thermostat temperature, won't get fresh towels, and you won't have any cell service (which I suppose some people wouldn't consider a negative but it comes in handy when you need it).

I wouldn't go back.

It is a tidy and clean B&B in a very very small town which is it's best point. However, you feel as if your being an inconvenience, they ration the toilet paper, make you take any trash that you made with you instead of disposing it themselves, and try to get you to go to bed early.

If your just staying by yourself for a night I doubt you would have any problems, but if your taking a family I would look elsewhere.
