The Phenix City Police Department provides law enforcement services, promotes public safety and protects the rights and property of residents in Phenix City, Ala. The chief of police is responsible for planning, directing and controlling all functions of the police department. The department s administrative division provides the department with equipment and support. It includes the records section, the 911 communications system, special services, training and personnel, the fugitive unit, the property and evidence departments, and the maintenance and procurement units. The criminal investigations division is charged with the responsibility of investigating all felony, misdemeanor and juvenile offenses. The department s patrol division includes patrol squads, the K-9 unit, the housing unit, the school resource program and animal control services. The Phenix City Police Department employs approximately 75 sworn officers and 20 civilian personnel.
