Established in 1864, Humphrys Flag Company is one of the nation's largest and oldest manufacturers of custom flags and banners. In addition to the traditional appliqu and screen printing that includes ink and acid dye methods, Humphrys also provides four-color process digital printing. In 1992, Humphrys made the world's largest flag. The 255-foot by 505-foot United States flag used 5.5-miles of fabric, 6000-miles of thread, weighed more than 3,000 pounds, and was unfurled during the Great American Picnic on Flag Day. The company manufacturers banners in any size on a variety of fabrics and its clients include the NFL, hospitals, universities, towns and cities, police departments, exhibit houses, the Polar Ice Coring Office and the Police Department of Lagos, Nigeria. The company is headquartered in Philadelphia.
