Dr. Thomas Scott is an anesthesiologist and pain specialist practicing in Philadelphia for whom the opioid crisis has had a personal impact. After losing a med-school classmate, a co-resident in anesthesia, and two high school friends to opioid overdoses, he founded Nopium, a pain management consulting and education service dedicated to providing effective pain relief while reducing or eliminating opioids. He is board certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine and also serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. His education and medical training included Stanford, Harvard, Georgetown, and the University of Pennsylvania. He regularly speaks regionally and nationally on pain management. He has opened Scott Integrated Pain Management, a private practice pain management in Philadelphia dedicated to managing pain according to best practices. He understands that effective pain control is required in order to reduce or eliminate the use of opioids for pain.
