WIC Program (Women, Infants and Children) is a special supplemental food program that improves the nutritional status of low-income breastfeeding and postpartum women and infants and children up to five years. The program s participants are served with nutritious foods. It also provides information and referrals to other health, welfare and social services. WIC Program operates through more than 2,000 local agencies in over 10,000 clinic sites. The program s services are provided in hospitals, county health departments, mobile clinics, community centers, schools, and migrant health centers and camps. Located in Philadelphia, it is operated by NORTH (North Central Organized Regionally for Total Health), which is a nonprofit health promotion organization founded in 1974.
