Founded in 1901, the Arizona Department of Juvenile Corrections, also known as ADJC, is accountable to the citizens of Arizona for the promotion of public safety. It works for the management of the state's juvenile facilities and the development and provision of services to juvenile offenders, including rehabilitation, treatment and education. The department works with various agencies throughout the state to provide therapeutic group homes, shelter care and counseling, functional family and multisystematic therapy and residential services for youth and families. The Arizona Department of Juvenile Corrections operates and maintains secure care facilities for the custody, treatment and education of juveniles. In addition, the department contracts with health care professionals who manage and deliver medical, dental and psychiatric services.
