The Development Services Department, administered by the government of Phoenix, enforces building codes and other development-related ordinances by reviewing building, site and civil construction plans. It inspects construction projects and issues certificates of completion. The department is also responsible for the coordination of policies between city departments and the presentation of technical, administrative and policy issues in public settings. The Development Services Department s commercial division reviews and inspects various components and phases of commercial development and construction. Its customer advocacy office focuses on strip mall revitalization. The department additionally maintains a development center that offers basic information about plan submittals and development-related codes and issues permits for commercial, fire, site, civil, sign and residential construction.
