I was very disappointed all around. The electric guitar course was a joke. Joe Vallee is not a teacher. They let me walk away with an incomplete electric guitar. Not to mention it was damaged in a demonstration in front of the class conducted by Joe. John Reuter is fairly compitant. The job placement program did not help me at all.I found a job on my own.i learned zero about repair! It wasn't even discussed.

at first i was so excited, and...

at first i was so excited, and would back roberto-venn till the end. but now. its every year that they change their techniques and not one year to the next is similar. the guitars dont age well at all. mine has all sorts of cracks in the wood the finish is checked already and its been a year. thats just the basics. the teachers seem like they dont care. you have to look over the instructors to make sure your moving foreward otherwise you may never get to the repair course like my class did. there was so much sit around time that it was sad. the school is a sheer remembrance of its former glory if it has any former glory. the notebooks only teach you slim basics. nowhere detailed. they cut corners in the finishing of their guitars. not to mention it was illegally sprayed...no help with finding a job and the certificate won't do a thing for finding a job since a certificate is useless. they want the money you spend to further their endevers of building. find and apprenticeship

Excellent

Not only is RV a great place to attend, but I have seen many repair jobs come out of that place looking good as new if not better. It's obvious they have a higher standard, and I would be very confident in sending my guitar there. (Especially compared to Guitar Center)

I get why the other guy rated them low.. These guys aren't around to cater to anyone. They will not coddle your feelings or promise anything that can't and wont be done no matter where you send your guitar. At the end of the day I've witnessed good honest work come out of there at a good price too.

The school itself is nationally accredited. Even thought the premises aren't much to boast about the finshed products those students are producing are incredible.. especially considering for some of the students this is their first woodworkiong experience. And you woulodn't be able to tell.

disappointed

i have to say i was disappointed in my experience with this place. I have a vintage gibson j-50 deluxe that needed some bridge work and trim work and a touch up here and there. Well after a good game plan lined out by their associate Matt and 4 months later nothing was done. They could not even call me to tell me after weeks of me leaving messages, emails. I finally left a message on their company voicemail told them to wrap up my guitar for pick up and to please call me back to confirm this message. Well no call back and a week later i finally drive down there and Matt tells me he sent it back to the music store that referred them. No hello, no apology, no nothing. I just looked at him and said "you couldnt even call me to tell me that and left.
