William (Billy) Kennedy, MD, is a radiation oncologist and an assistant professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Barrow Neurological Institute.
Dr. Kennedy’s expertise encompasses the treatment of brain and spine tumors using noninvasive radiosurgery, including Gamma Knife and CyberKnife radiosurgery, stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), image-guided intensity-modulated therapy (IMRT), and brachytherapy. He is a member of the American Board of Radiology, the American Society for Radiation Oncology, and the Society for Neuro-Oncology.
Dr. Kennedy earned his medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his internal medicine internship at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina, and his residency in radiation oncology at Washington University School of Medicine and Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, where he served as chief resident in his final year.
Dr. Kennedy’s research interests include developing clinical trials for the management of primary and metastatic central nervous system tumors. He is also focused on novel uses of stereotactic radiosurgery, quality improvement of radiotherapy treatment planning and delivery, and patient-reported quality of life and survivorship. He has authored dozens of peer-reviewed publications on these topics.
