Pretty Good

This is a pretty good restaurant for the region. It gets crowded as the evening goes on.

Embarrassment

Today, March 28, I planned to surprise a friend of mine, whom had his first baby the day before yesterday, by taking him out to eat to celebrate the birth. Being from Pikeville, we knew the only place that we could get a steak and a glass of wine (every month or so I get a craving for white zinfandel) was at the local Applebee's. It was around three o'clock in the afternoon, so the restaurant had hardly any people in it and we figured that we would probably get served quicker. At least ten minutes after we had been seated and looked at the menu, a server (as they referred to her) finally asked us what we would like to drink. We both asked for a glass of white zinfandel, and the server went on her merry way. Around ten minutes later, for a total of about twenty minutes being in the restaurant, a different woman came to our table. She was a medium-height, slender woman with a smile as fake as monopoly money. She informed my friend and I that the server would not serve us. So, naturally confused that the server refused to serve us, we simply ask if the was anyone else that would serve us. She said that if we would move to another spot they would serve us food, but not alcohol. Not having any alcohol whatsoever within the last month, this confused me tremendously. I then engaged in asking the woman if I looked even slightly inebriated, knowing that I was not, she could not say no. We then left and a few hours later I called Applebee's of Pikeville and asked to speak with the manager in charge. I had half of this review wrote, so I read it to him and explained the embarrassment caused by the woman earlier that day. The manager apologized to me and promised that he would make it up to my friend and I. He stated that he was thankful that I talked to him before posting this review, and that he would contact the general manager and let him know of my complaint. He took my name and number and promised that the gm would personally call me the next day to try to make amends. Being it now Monday the 31st, I suppose that I have given them ample time to call me and let me know something before I posted this review. If they do try to somehow make things right, I will notify everyone with another review, but honestly It would surprise me if I hear from them. Thank you all for your time reading this, and I hope next time you are out for dinner, you receive the quality and respect that you deserve. Written between March 28 to the 31st, 2008.
