Provided by YP.comI ate at D&T restaurant for the first time today. I reviewed the vast menu, and decided to order a Seafood Platter to see how the shrimp, catfish, oysters, stuffed shrimp, stuffed crab, hushpuppies, french fries, etc. were cooked. This is not a fast food restaurant. The food is freshly cooked by the order. I have eaten Seafood Platters at almost every restaurant in the Pineville/Alexandria area, and this is by far the freshest, most varied, and tastiest one I've had in CENLA yet. The stuffed crab was the most pleasant surprise. It is actually a stuffed crab, real crab shell and all, with crab meat, not just crab flavored bread. The coating was crisp. The crab meat was perfectly seasoned without causing "salt-shock." The oysters seemed to be floating inside a light, tasty, perfectly seasoned and fried batter that made them seem like little clouds of flavor. The shrimp were also inside a battered pocket. The catfish was the best I've eaten in CENLA. The french fries tasted like real potatoes, nicely seasoned, and like all the fried food, they were fried in the freshest tasting oil. They were moist and soft in the inside which was a surprising treat. From the outside, D&T appears to be a drive through fast food "shack," but looks are deceiving. This restaurant is what all restaurants should be about, great food at a fair price, served fresh and as tasty as anyone could desire. The staff are very affable, willing to please, and most pleasant. The owner saw me perusing the menu, and said that if I told him what I want, whether it is on the menu or nor, he would prepare it for me. The menu is amazing. They serve everything from homemade donuts, and pastries to fried chicken, fish, oysters, shrimp, etc., and speciality Asian dishes, including fried rice, Catfish in Ginger sauce, and exotic Asian cuisine. They also prepare po'boys to order. I'm going back in a couple of days. Over the next year I plan to try to sample the entire menu. I now have a new "go-to" place to which makes me miss New Orleans cuisine a little less, and that is the best complement I can pay this fine new restaurant. I heartily recommend that you try it for yourself soon. it is located on Highway 28E directly across the street from the new McDonalds. Let me know what you think.
