Blind and Vision Rehabilitation Services of Pittsburgh provides a range of programs and services to people who are blind or visually impaired. The agency was established in July 1997 as the result of the consolidation of the Pittsburgh Blind Association and the Greater Pittsburgh Guild for the Blind. Blind and Vision Rehabilitation Services of Pittsburgh helps more than 4,000 persons per year annually and provides preschool vision screenings to more than 12,000 students each year. The agency provides services in the three main areas of evaluation, training and support. It helps persons adapt to vision loss through counseling and Braille instructional services. Hundreds of volunteers help Blind and Vision Rehabilitation Services of Pittsburgh sponsor many fundraisers to help the service programs of the agency.
