What are Drum Lessons? Our Drum Lessons give students the opportunity to learn: The basics of the language of music such as: Reading music, Rhythm, etc. The fundamentals of Drumming, such as: Proper playing technique-holding the sticks properly, proper stroke techniques, etc. Learning how to play with other musicians: Students regularly play to music tracks, click tracks, and can participate in student Jam Sessions and two Student Recitals per year. What will students do during their drum lessons? Complete beginners are given exercises that will develop drumming fundamentals such as how to play a Drum Roll, how to read music, how to play with solid tempo, and Drum Rudiments. Students who are at an Intermediate level typically start playing drum set and also begin to learn important concepts about playing with other musicians such as phrasing, holding strong tempo, improvisation, and other concepts. Also, students hoping to improve their "chops" for the school Marching Band or Jazz Band will have the opportunity to develop at our studio. Advanced students will learn how to develop their own sound. Players at this level will learn to tap into their natural talents and invent new concepts. Advanced snare drumming, composite drum set systems, Jazz studies, "Chop Drills," and more will be the focus of study at this level of training.
