Jewish Family & Children s Service of Pittsburgh, founded in 1937, is a nonsectarian, nonprofit organization serving children, adults and families. The organization is approved by the Council on Accreditation of Services for Families and Children and is a member of the North American Council on Adoptable Children and International Association of Jewish Vocational Services. It offers adoption programs, central scholarship and loan referral services for college students, counseling and consultation programs, critical needs and emergency services, guardianship programs for children, and refugee and immigration services. In addition, it provides various older adult services, including care management, family consultation, physical and occupational therapies and elder alert personal emergency response service. Its employees include psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers and support staffs. The organization is located in Pittsburgh, and is supported by the United Jewish Federation and the United Way of Allegheny County and also receives funding from the government, foundations and contributors.
