Founded in 1872, Pittsburgh Liberty K-5 offers a range of educational programs to more than 400 students in kindergarten through grade five. Its syllabus includes English, mathematics, science, social studies, language arts and music. The school conducts classes in special, gifted and special education, as well as offers Title I program. It also organizes parent-teacher meetings that encourage parental involvement in children's education. The school provides health, food and transportation services. Pittsburgh Liberty K-5 maintains a library and media center that features a collection of books and periodicals. In addition, the school operates challenge 24 math, book, garden and Pittsburgh chess clubs. Located in Pittsburgh, it is a part of Pittsburgh Public Schools, which serves over 28,000 students and employs nearly 5,000 staff members.
