Provided by YP.comUnfortunately, for 7 months I lived in an apartment offered by this company.
Problems involved:
1.) I never received a copy of my lease. Never not in the 7 months I lived there or 3 months since.
2.) I did not receive a key to my front door for 4 months (I called about 3 times before getting a response. After three months, the lock was fixed, but it still took two more weeks to get a key)
3.) I did not have a door to my bedroom for 3 months (It had been knocked off before I moved in and the replacement door was simply placed by the broken frame for those 3 months and would fall every time there was a strong wind)
4.) Most window locks were broken, including the one leading to the fire escape.
5.) Behind the building are parking spaces which I was told by the land manager when I moved in were for the residents, however I later found out that they were not and Jim told me I would be towed if I ever even thought about parking there again. By these parking spaces was a garbage filled garage (also owned by "Jim")
6.) Homeless men living on the roof. Seriously, and apparently this was not the first time that homeless people have moved in.
7.) This one is pretty crazy... First a background story: The "land manager" as he liked to refer to himself which I later found was an unofficial title, liked to joke about his love of crack cocaine. His girlfriend once broke a window in the building when she had to go to the bathroom and no one would let her in. Nick's sister is dating "Jim," which I found out is why he still has his job. So, the story of why I eventually left the apartment, begins Nick coming into my apartment (through the fire escape) and informing my roommate and I that someone had been seen walking on our roof and that there had been complaints of people sleeping up there. I was a little confused and scared when he then went to our window and started yelling at the homeless men to get off the roof. However, what really confused me was a few days later when I called the landlord and told him about what happened and asked him to put locks on the windows. He responded by telling me that none of this had ever happened. That my roommate, his sister, and myself were making this whole story up. He continued to tell me that I must have been the person sleeping on the roof. He went through and explained that the only way to get to the roof was through my apartment window, I responded by explaining that this was why I wanted locks and why I was so scared. He countered by explaining that there was a garbage filled open garage in the back and why wouldn't they just sleep there, I responded by explaining that I had commented on that this was another problem he should address. End of story, I moved out, he threated to sue, my roommate found another roommate, my name is still on the lease even after I've moved out, someone else has moved in and I had this laundry list of problems.
I should add I really did like most of the people who lived there. It was close to everything and a very relaxed (borderline apathetic) environment.
