In the mid 2000's this store was located in South Side, and was an actual bird store, selling both birds as well as cages, toys, etc.

Now it is in Millvale, and I don't know when it changed but now it is NOT a bird store. It looks like one, it's site advertises it as one (Pittsburgh's best bird store), but if you visit it expecting one, it is not.

The store isn't a store; he doesn't sell anything - no toys or cages, when we visited he didn't have any birds for sale. All the birds he had were boarders. If you need a bird boarded or you need a bird groomed, then yes, go here. But if you're looking for cages or toys, this is NOT the place, and I don't think it should be called a bird store.

The 'store' is run down inside, and obviously part of his house, not an actual store. I'd forgive that if he actually sold services or items, but he doesn't. He's friendly enough, helpful, and knowledgeable, which is great, but that didn't make up for the time we spent going out of the way to come here. Avoid if you want to buy things; in his words every customer said they were buying things online for cheaper, so he stopped stocking.

Not a bird store

Was trying to plan a trip to Pittsburgh without having been there before. Looked online for bird stores since we are owners and enjoy stopping by to visit other birds. We walked in and were appalled at the condition of the place. First of all, it's not a store its more of a pick up place for supplies preordered, second of all the public place was dusty, dirty and had bird crap everywhere. The cool talking birds were in closed off rooms that weren't public. Basically we walked in to a dirty place, saw a few parakeets, three green cheek conjures in a cage with one toy, and a sales counter... nothing really to buy or look at, which was the impression that I got from their website and other things I saw online. Very disappointed!!! :(

Wonderful to have people that ...

Wonderful to have people that care so much and take time to help with questions and concerns.

I'm so glad they are always there for my birds.

Thank you for everything.

On a side note, the other shops on McKnight Road don't know crap when you ask them a question. I walked out of Petco in disgust more than once.

great birds and products, very very informative and knowlegable

My bird was sick and I could not get him to an avian specialist. The vet I took him to was o.k and helped him a little but gave me some wrong information.

The owner of pretty birds was able to give me some good information and referalls. The information he gave was right on and my bird improved until I could get him to a specialist.

The store has excellent quality of seeds and products. The birds he sells are in excellent condition. I would recommend Pretty Birds if you are looking for a bird. I will buy my next bird from him.
