Young's Tavern started its operations in 1925 by George and Anna Young and operated as the first diner in the south side. Later, when liquor licenses were introduced into the state of Pennsylvania, the Young family purchased the second building known as the ¿Dining Room¿. It was necessary to provide a separate entrance for women and children. Young's closed its doors after the death of Edward Young in the year 2000. Young's re-opened in 2005, when is was taken over by the Folino's, who continue operating it as Young's Tavern, know as the locals hangout for homemade meals, relaxed atmosphere and great food and fun. The Story of Folino's and Young's Tavern The Folino's own and operate Tom's Diner in Dormont and the south side and know the importance of a family run operation. Penny Folino along with her father, mother, and brother opened Tom's Diner in Dormont in 1981, which has been a huge success in Pittsburgh. Now Penny, along with her husband, Tony, would like the opportunity to serve you once again. Our story at Young's is to know this as a new twist on an old establishment with hearty steaks, Italian pasta creations, pizza, ice cold beer and specialty martinis, along with a lively and fun, yet relaxing atmosphere. Folino's Ristorante and Tom's Diner merged into one family restaurant in April 2008.
