condensing attitude

I stopped in to get a look & pricing on bikes for my wife & me. Our budget is $1000 for both.

The sales man (an older silver-haired man) acted as though he had a train to catch & I was holding him up. Rather answering my questions, his responses were more in a manner of telling me what I ‘had’ to do, as opposed to giving me options and explanations. When I asked about a slightly less expensive model he ignored my inquiry totally. His entire attitude was condensing and demeaning. When I asked about possible color option on a mountain bike for me, he said it only came in the one color, just like everyone else’s bikes. I may not be an expert (far from it) but I’ve been to enough bike shops in past three weeks to know what a ‘crock of crap’ he was trying to feed me.

This guy acted as though I should be thanking him for allowing me to have the privilege of buying a bike from him. The Snob Factor was over top, as if I had waked into Bentley or Rolls Royce showroom shabbily dressed and with $10,000 expecting to buy a car.

$1000 for two bikes may not seem like much to some, I guess. But I have seen other bikes in the price range & categories we are shopping for that are better equipped quality-wise (drive train, brakes, etc.) for less money.

I can promise that this shop won’t see me buy as much as $6 bottle rack from them.

Very Poor Customer Service
