The concept of Vittles is to serve "down-home food. There are no chemicals or preservatives; the emphasis here is on using fresh ingredients to create real food!  Almost everything is made from scratch.  Even the potato chips are made each morning! The Baily's Irish cream milk chocolate ice cream is a real favorite.

Vittles is open for breakfast and lunch. Dinner is served on Friday and Saturday nights. The dinner menu changes weekly. You can see such entrees as 5 spice seared duck with a blackberry wine reduction sauce, a crab and asparagus tortilla pizza, Cajun mac-n-cheese or beef stroganoff. You never know.

Breakfast is served until 11 a.m. and offers everything from eggs and omelets to Belgian waffles. Lunch features wraps, soups, chili, salads and sandwiches. Fresh ground beef is purchased daily for our char-grilled burgers.

Located in the center of Pittsfield, the restaurant is less than mile from I95 exit 150. With a 14' tin ceiling in a century old building, a comfortable and non-pretentious atmosphere is created.

Vittles fine food is known in the area as the healthy choice. If you find yourself in central Maine, get a bite to eat at a local gem.

I have in lived in Pittsfield for many years and have seen the number of restaurants go in and out of that space, however Vittles has stuck around for a while. Their breakfast is a redeeming quality- a very true blue representation of a Mainer's breakfast. However lunch and what little they have for dinner is not so great. Their hours don't allow for lots of dinner options and that's disappointing. Also they have many waiters/waitresses and yet my drink is rarely refilled, never checked in on, and waited 20 minutes to get the check, change, and go. I've seen their staff be rude to the local highschool kids that come in to just share some fries during lunch- not a very good atmosphere. The food is sub par, the chicken is usually filled with ligaments, is cold, and over cooked. The food overall is usually cold and greasy. Vittles is never even an option in my home.

Waitress decided to wash the floor on her knees with her hands and a rag. Not waiting long she brought me my food with out washing her hands. The food was very cold and almost like it was warmed up. I never could get the attention of the waitress again thru the whole meal. So I had to eat the to jumbo tenders with a tiny thing of sauce while the waitress talked to the other waitress about her tips behind the bar. She never asked to refill my drink either. I finished my meal and she did not even bring me my bill I waited and waited until I was completely irritated. I finally got up and walked over to the register to pay and she had lost my order. She rings me up I pay with debit and on the receipt their is a place to leave a tip I leave it blank and hand it to her. She then looks to the receipt to see the tip and smacks her lip and gives me a dirty look.If you get the heavy set blonde waitress run for the door and lick the side walk your guaranteed to have a better experience.

Excellent quality and great service! A gem in a sea of so-so restaurants. The menu is unique each night with a good selection. The homemade berry ice cream was excellent and a real treat. Even the coffee was top-notch and seemed to be an Italian roast. Wonderful place. The onsite owner made us feel very much at home.

like nothing else around

this is an actual real restaurant that buys raw products and turns them into food. nothing comes from a can. real hollindaise, fresh meat and seafood, new menu items all the time, plus they serve local beers and wines. No restaurant in the town of pittsfield has what Vittles has.
