Provided by YP.comI am not a person who usually writes a review on a place, but on this place I felt the need! Dr. Blonien has the worst way of treating animals. Our dog has seizures and one night he started with one to finish out at 13. We first took him to the Animal Hospital off of Custer. They took great care of him. The next morning we went to Parker Animal Clinic. We started to tell Dr. Blonien about our dogs history. He asked if he was up to date on his shots. Which of course I admitted I was an irresponsible pet owner and no he was not. So Before he would go any further with our dog he automatically says I am going to treat him as if he has rabies. He wrote out a waiver and had my husband sign it. He said he would administer the seizure meds, but Lucius would go into quarantine and we would go from there. He showed no care with our dog who was on sedatives at the time. He grab the leash and started dragging him through the other door. Lucius ran into the table and the Dr still showed no sympathy! After 6 hours of waiting and us having to call the Dr back... He said we could come get him, because he had not had another seizure. When he called us back into the room he left the door open, and proceeded to tell us he still thinks our dog has rabies and if he bites anyone and they die it is our fault. He gave Lucius potassium bromide and phenobarbital. Hmmm is that not what you treat an epileptic dog with. He said he was cleansing out the toxins, but still rabies was at the top of his list. Our dog has not bit anyone nor has he been attacked. I also told Dr. Blonien this and he said he hears that all the time! We are taking our dog today to another Vet. The girl on the phone was very positive and understanding! I do not recommend this clinic to anyone unless you fit the profile that is acceptable to them. My dog and my family were treated with unwarranted disrespect! Also this man apparently has no problem with letting dogs with "rabies" leave his establishment.

Provided by YP.comThe only good thing about this place is Dr. Whetstone. She is very sweet and caring, but unfortunately, there is a lot more to a vet clinic that the vet.
The front end staff is rude, unprofessional and downright unpleasant. They charge MORE than retail for their prescriptions and when you ask for a paper script to take elsewhere, they make it clear they think you are horrible for buying from "those online pet meds websites". They are always super-busy to the point of utter chaos and even picking up meds is an ordeal.
We gave them 2 years, but finally left. I suggest you steer clear.

Provided by YP.comI absolutely love this vet clinic and especially Dr Bethany Whetstone! I have a nine year old schnauzer that had been seeing the same vet since she was 6 wks old. After tons of money and misdiagnosis, I found Dr Whetstone who pet my dog on the road to recovery!

Provided by YP.comWe have been going to Parker animal and bird clinic for over 20 years. When we moved to Plano in 1994 we brought our dogs and cats to the clinic for treatment on a regular basis. Dr. Blonion is "the boss". He runs the show. He sets the standard for excellence. He is also known as the cat whisperer. You have to see this to believe it! He has a connection with cats that I cannot describe.
Dr. Whetstone, is our primary veterinarian today regarding ongoing care for our two aging dogs one of which has Addison's disease. We find our treatment to be beyond just caring. The staff as well as the doctor show a love of animals in all dealings that we have observed.
I will admit that there are times when we have been told things that we did not want to hear but, in perfect hindsight they were being good stewards and looking out for the well-being of both the pet owner and the animals.
I can think of no other organization or group of people that have such an ingrained love of animals than Parker animal and bird clinic.
Regarding the comments about monetary issues with holding treatment, in over 20 years I have never seen anything except the absolute opposite! There were times when we were either not in town or The financial pain of a very large expense would be harmful to our young family. The animals always received the very best treatment and discounts were given as well as payment arrangements were made when necessary. No problems, ever!
You must be an advocate for yourself and your animal. You must always communicate your concerns clearly with the attending veterinarian. If you do not feel that you are being heard or understood, asked to speak with someone else. These are human beings Great compassion and caring. Their desire is to do the right thing but there are times when just like the rest of us things can get overwhelming. Understand that they too can make mistakes but not out of malice or lack of caring. I will never believe that.
I give my complete endorsement and recommendation to Parker animal and bird clinic and their staff and veterinarians.

Provided by YPmobileI'm shocked at some of these other reviews. My black lab is nearing the end and has severe hip issues and pain and this clinic and it's staff has always been pleasant and expressed concern and care in regards to not only our lab but our other 2 younger dogs as well. It is very busy most of the time but I see that as a good thing. Their prices are all also super reasonable compared to other vets. They have been very understanding of the fact that my dog is older and never try to charge me for anything that's not necessary which is very appreciated. I will continue to have my other dogs seen here even after my lab, Max, passes on.

Provided by YP.comI have gone to Parker Animal and Bird Clinic for 20 years and in that time, they've treated two cats and two dogs of ours. This veternarian office is extremely popular and BUSY for two reasons. They are affordable and they do care about animals. We moved about 15 miles away so I tried going to closer vets in Dallas and ended up paying nearly double for shots and treatments. We make the drive back to Plano now.

Provided by YP.comI have a number of animals and have been to a number of veterinary hospitals in the area. I would never recommend that anyone take their pets here. My rabbit supposedly is a patient, but when he got sick this week they said they were too busy to see him. The vet tech even had the nerve to tell me that they couldn't see him but it might be too late for him by the next day so I needed to find another hospital. She then gave me the number to an emergency clinic that was a distance away and not open for several hours. I had to call around to get my rabbit help. I agree with the other reviews that this is a clinic to avoid if you care about your pets.

Provided by YP.comWorst clinic ever. I would never recommend this awful place. I had taken two of my pets there more than once and was out of town when my cat Daisy, whom they had treated in the past, was taken ill. I could hear her screaming on the phone. My roommate had no money at the time and I called the clinic with a credit card. They refused to treat her. This was an animal in acute pain. Luckily a vet I knew through business took her, but that meant a 40 minute car ride Daisy was terrified and in pain. She passed away. I don't know if Parker could have saved her but they definitely could have saved her pain and terror. They chose to honor the almighty dollar instead. They said I had to be standing there with my credit card and not over the phone. I will never forgive this horrible, uncaring and inhumane place. DO NOT GO TO THIS CLINIC IF YOU LOVE YOUR PETS

Provided by YP.comHorrible communication and customer service. I was on a wait list for the last 2 months for medicine for my dog. I called again to check the status and they told me they no longer do a wait list. Every time I call I get a completely different answer. They are very rude and short with you if you have any questions. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

Provided by YP.comI found the Clinic through the Plano Animal Shelter's list of vets who would spay and neuter at a lower price. I had never been before, and when I took our dog in, I expected to be shuffled in and out. But what a surprise! The staff and doctors are so caring and took care of our every need. And the attention they gave our dog was exceptional. I recommend Parker Animal and Bird Clinic to everyone!
