Spoke to several phone representatives and all were pleasant to speak with. All were willing to assist and help with any questions and request I made, from changing times to what offers I was able to get. The tech who installed the equipment in my house was also great to deal with. Communications was great with him and he was able to answer any questions and took time to explain the system and made sure I knew how to handle everything. I am hoping my 1st experience Smith Thompson will continue just as good as I move forward with the company down the road.

Smith-Thompson is A-1 in customer service and response. I have accidentally set off my alarm a couple of times, and within FIVE SECONDS, I had a call from the company wanting to know if I was okay. I feel very safe, and the system is so easy to use. The technican Shawn was able to set up monitoring using the existing system in my home, and was very thorough in showing me how to use it. I recommend Smith-Thompson to all my real estate clients, because I know first-hand that they provide top-notch service, and at the lowest rates I've seen.

This is our second home to have Smith Thompson as our security company. When the day comes, we'll use them at our third. The install was seamless and easy. Their techs are always courteous. We recommend this company to friends.

Unfortunately, I prepaid with this company and thought the experience would be a great one. How difficult can it possibly be to call a phone when an alarm goes off? Well, it must be rather difficult. There have been several instances when this company (Smith Thompson Security) did not even call my phone to see if everything was okay. On one occasion they actually sent the police to my house.



Combine this with the fact they are very argumentative and extremely rude when contacted by phone, and I suppose you can imagine that I will not renew with them.

superb service , customer service was responsive, technician blowed me away with his knowledge i have full DSC system setup with touch panel on main door, another key panel on garage door they interact with each other, uplink smart phone app to control alarm from anywhere, 4G cellular communicator with extreme signal , this is the best company to deal with all other companies where trashy , they either lie to you about signal or confuse you about phone line and cellular which they have cellular more expensive , this company either way same pricing no contact he told me you don't like it we can cancel right away , but basically I'm keeping it lifetime.

This company is fine when your alarm is working. However, you get what you pay for. Since the service is so cheap, they cut corners on their staff. If you have any problems whatsoever, the Smith and Thompson people are very unprofessional. When our alarm went out this summer, I contacted S&T. One of their technicians called and said he had no answers other than to check out the outlet, so I did. It was fine. I also replaced the battery and AC adapter (something their Technician never even mentioned, which shows just how well trained these guys are lol). However, the alarm still did not work due to their wireless modem being inoperable. After S&T sent me a bill, I informed them I would not be paying for an alarm service where the alarm was inoperable. When I told them I would resume staying with them if they could get their wireless modem to work, I was informed that my account was not to be reactivated. I still have their modem, which apparently does not work. However, how hard is it to swap out a wireless modem? Apparently too hard for Smith & Thompson.

I recently went with Smith Thompson to monitor my existing system. My review solely deals with Smith Thompson as a monitoring company, not as an installer of brand new systems from scratch. I would not use Smith Thompson to install a new system because they don’t install hardwired systems and they don’t install Honeywell Panels, only DSC. If you want to add a device to an existing hardwired system, they will only install wireless devices which contain batteries that must be changed. They refuse to run wire from the panel to devices. For instance, they had no interest in installing a hardwired external siren. So, I had a local alarm company in Houston install all of my Honeywell hardwired components. Once I had the perfect alarm system, it was time for me to find someone to monitor it. I always heard wonderful things about Smith Thompson from friends and how they have a very quick response time. Also, they have the best prices in town for cellular monitoring. They blow ADT and all of the national alarm monitoring companies out of the water with their excellent service and pricing! Further, you do not have to enter into a contract, which I like. I talked with Josh on the phone and he was quite helpful in answering all of my questions. Josh scheduled me for the set-up service and the tech was prompt in coming. He called an hour before arriving. I went ahead and had the Smith Thompson tech install a wireless smoke & heat detector while he was out. I was happy to see that he installed Honeywell smoke detectors and that I didn’t have to settle for the crap from DSC. In fact, he had both Honeywell smoke detectors and Honeywell wireless receivers stocked in his truck. The smoke detector and wireless receiver cost $129. The Uplink device for monitoring was $89. I went ahead and paid for a year of monitoring so I could get one free month of monitoring. The tech properly labeled the panic buttons on my Honeywell keypads and showed me how to use the system. In summation, without hesitation, I would recommend Smith Thompson for the narrow purpose of monitoring an existing system. But, by no means are they a full-service alarm company.

Other than they got tired of my simply driving them for a few add ons for free, I will give them a thumbs up. Just my custom from my country where you are only trying to get a better deal and the sales guy got a little testy with me when asked him several times about getting a few extra glass break sensors added for free. They did charge me $ 29 to replace an old model keypad that was inop so I guess that was pretty good (even though I wanted it for free. lol) I will save a bundle on canceling my land line so I would def recommend them. The tech was very nice.

They came out and used the system I already had. I went with the wireless option so I can cancel my landline phone. It's $16.95 a month and no contract. Doesn't get any better!
