Adam Rothman, MD, is fellowship trained ophthalmologist dedicated to caring for patients with glaucoma and cataracts. A proud Gator, Dr. Rothman grew up in South Florida before graduating summa cum laude from the University of Florida. He then relocated to North Carolina to attend medical school at Duke University and stayed at Duke for his ophthalmology residency. Dr. Rothman returned to Florida as a glaucoma fellow at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute.Dr. Rothman has received several accolades including the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Science for Life Fellowship for his research in biopharmaceuticals, the Duke University Dean's Scholarship while exploring the relationship of eye microanatomy to systemic health, and most recently a Heed Ophthalmic Foundation Fellowship, which recognizes select postgraduate trainees pursuing a career in academic ophthalmology. Dr. Rothman hopes to use research to improve patient care, from learning how to optimize surgical outcomes to better understanding the role of demographics in health. His surgical experience includes not only traditional cataract and glaucoma surgeries but also several new minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries (MIGS). He is eager to provide individualized care to patients with glaucoma or cataracts.
