Located in Plantation, Fla., West Regional Library is operated by Broward County Library, which is one of the largest and busiest library systems in the United States. The library encompasses the African-American Research Library and Cultural Center, Research and Information Technology Center, Alvin Sherman Library, Main Library, and more than five regional and over 29 branch libraries. It checks out nearly 9 million items annually. In addition to circulating materials and information access, Broward County Library organizes various programs, special events and classes throughout the year. Its events include Children's Book Fest, Pan African Bookfest and Cultural Conference, Literary Feast and StoryBook Festival. Broward County Library also offers nationally recognized adult and children's literacy programs.
