Established in 1975, the Plover Police Department is the primary law enforcement agency in the village of Plover, Wis. It employs a staff of more than 10 full-time officers, detective, lieutenant, sergeant and corporals. The department operates a communication center that provides police, fire and medical services. Additionally, it offers various programs, such as school safety, firearm training, children s identification, McGruff Safety, Gun Awareness and Counter Act. The Plover Police Department also provides bicycle patrol and participates in the Portage County Triad program, which provides information on crime prevention and personal protection. Its locater computer system allows the department instant contact with a network of justice agencies across the United States for the purpose of receiving and sending information on missing children.
