PLEASE stay away from this Com...

PLEASE stay away from this Company. I have tried an entire season to work with them to improve my lawn. I feel that once they received my pre-pay money for the entire season in advance, they had no real interest in doing the job properly. My lawn is full of weeds and I requested for months to have this issue reviewed and resolved. This Company will schedule appointments with you, but then not show up as scheduled. This happen NUMEROUS Times. They are beyond rude over the phone (had my wife in tears), have terrible Customer Service, the owner Greg W. will NOT return calls to assist with resolution of your concerns.
Do NOT get suckered in by cheap costs with upfront payment. You will get what you pay for at the end. In my opinion, terrible Customer Service with unacceptable resolution of the Customer Concerns. Worse is they have all your money and you end up with a terrible looking lawn. They do not even seem to care, just get the run around with all their employees.

Just my opinion, Be weary and STAY AWAY from "Down to Earth Lawns", I had one of the worst experiences in my life with this Company. Maybe you will have better outcome, but is it worth the chance?

I am very sorry you had a bad experience. But this review is unfair and leaves out much of the story. We started servicing the lawn in April and did 5 regular applications on a timely basis. The first request for a service call was in August after a very hot and dry summer. Nothing we can put down on the lawn will take the place of adequate water. Without enough water, the lawn will turn brown and leave thin areas where weeds can thrive. Unfortunately there is no preventative for weeds in that situation. We did 3 free service calls in the 30 days between August 26 and September 26. It takes time for weed killer to work and it does not work well when the temperature is over 85 degrees. August and early September are often too hot for effective weed control that is better done after the weather cools and fall wet weather starts. If we missed any appointments, I am sorry. We generally avoid appointments for a specific time to maintain efficiency in our daily routing so we are not spending all day driving and also because traffic and other issues can interfere. Our standard practice is to do service calls within 2-3 business days. If the customer is not home then we make any needed extra treatments and leave notes if diagnosis of a problem was necessary. Linda was the general manager at the time and she was polite to everyone and accommodating to a fault. I know she tried desperately to work with you and resolve any problems. To say that I will not return calls is not true. I did speak to you before you posted this review. All I could do was tell you what Linda had already told you. That there is no preventative for weeds and the lack of water is not something our treatments can overcome. I offered a generous resolution but you insisted on a full refund for the year. That was totally unreasonable given the facts. It is very sad that you felt compelled to leave such a hateful review.

I have been a customer of Down To Earth Lawns for several years. I am perfectly satisfied with their service. They have fertilized and aerated my lawn and they have applied grub control, all with excellent results. They have done much better than Chem Lawn/TruGreen which gave me large grub patches in my front yard. I highly recommend Down To Earth.

This company has terrible business practices.

Last season we prepaid for a certain number of fertilizer applications. During the fall we realized we were shorted two applications, so my husband called to complain. They could not deny that what we said was true.

The company came out one more time that season. We washed our hands of the situation and vowed to never work with them again.

Fast forward to the next year. We received no notices or contracts in the mail, but one day we come home to discover Down to Earth had treated our lawn. We thought they might just be making up for the last year's shortage.

Nope. They decided to sign us up for a pay as you go contract. They billed us, and we have written numerous letters and left messages letting them know they were not invited or contracted to do service on our lawn this year. They are still demanding payment.

Beware of this awful company!!!

I am sorry but it sounds like there may have been a lack of communication here. We apply applications as early as March and as late as November. Different people can have different programs, but depending on when you called in the fall, it is certainly possible, and even likely, that you would still have two applications not yet done. It would not mean that any applications were late. The last application is called a Winterizer and is meant to be applied when the weather is quite cold and the grass is no longer growing, but the roots are still growing. It is the only time of year when it is possible to fertilize and stimulate root growth specifically. I don't know if I spoke to you but I have taken calls from customers in the fall who are sometimes surprised that they still have two or more applications left for the year. On a 6 application program, one way to think of it is 2 in the spring, 2 in the summer, and 2 in the fall. Some of our customers get 8 applications a year. The fall is actually one of the best times to apply both fertilizer and weed killer. Every invoice we leave states that the service continues from year to year. We also mail two letters each winter offering a prepayment discount that also state that we will be out automatically in the spring. All it takes is a phone call to let us know that you don't want to continue. We do not want to do service for someone who doesn't want us, but we also do not want to miss an application for the vast majority who expect us to show up year after year. If you still believe that we did in fact miss any applications then please call so we can resolve this in a satisfactory manner.

This company is the worst!!! I wish I would have read reviews 1st. I, too, paid in full for the season, so they got our money, now no service. They have neglected our lawn so badly that now we have a gopher problem do to grubs getting so out of control. They came out one time at the beginning of the season, then never came bac. After infinite calls, they finally came out to spray insecticide once, then supposed to have second application 3 weeks later. Well 3 weeks have come and gone long ago, and they never answer or return calls.
I hope they go out of business FAST so no one else gets scammed. I would give them a 000000 rating!

This review cannot possibly be for Down to Earth Lawns in Plymouth MI. We answer our phones, do not ignore calls, and do not ever apply insecticide applications 3 weeks apart for grubs. We use Merit for grubs applied in the summer. One application is all that is needed. Also, gophers eat plants, not grubs so if you have a gopher problem, it has nothing to do with grubs in your lawn. For every bad review on here, we have several hundred satisfied customers. We do not ever take prepayments and then fail to provide service.
