Provided by YP.comMade a pit stop for gas in Pocahontas,IL. while on vacation. Came across Funderburks Gas and Deli to fill up the tank. Went inside and found a nice little store and restaurant. It made you feel like time stood still, it had odds and ends to buy, old glass bottles of soda, just like you were back in the fifties. Very friendly staff, clean bathroom and then we decided to eat in the deli(restaurant). They had a menu with all different items from, sandwiches hot or cold, burgers, fish and chips to steak, home made fries and onion rings. We ordered a reuben sandwich and a bacon burger with homemade onions rings. The burger looked to be a half pound burger and the reuben was stuffed with meat,no small portions here. The onion rings were big and dipped in a beer batter. The food was fantastic and service was great. The cook was a young guy but he was a fine chef,he was very friendly and even talked to us. While ordering is when I saw the old glass bottles of soda, bubble up and hires rootbeer. They were one dollar but you had to leave the bottle(darn it ), they return them to be refilled. I complimented them on how great the food was and service and that the place was cute and friendly. I took a picture of the place so I would remember to stop again when traveling thourgh Illinois on I-70. I told all my friends to stop there when traveling.
