I was admitted for kidney problems after being evaluated in the ER. Not only was one of my kidneys not functioning properly, I am pregnant and in a methadone program. I was in severe pain. I had explained to hospital personnel that the last ultra sound of kidney showed I had 7 very large stones that were too big to pass. I was told at mainland, after another ultra sound, I had no such kidney stones but was admitted and told a urologist would see me the next day. More than THREE HOURS LATER - I PASSED 2 VERY LARGE STONES! The only actual doctor I spoke with the entire time I was there was the one who said I didn't have kidney stones. That night and the next day, no one ever came to speak to me. The nurse never came to check on me. I tried explaining that I needed to receive methadone by 10am in order to keep from going into withdrawal, a potential harm to my baby or possible miscarriage. Even after getting authorization from the clinic i attend - i was refused my methadone treatment.
