I have been in my new home for less than three years. The outstanding issues with Tropical Pool's work are:
1) Pavers keep sinking since installed despite the builder trying to reinstall them three times.
2) The pool cage gutter was installed with a belly near the seam that water sits in and drips on the lanai until the belly is drained/evaporates. The seam has been recently caulked for the third time but the belly has not ever been remediated. It is only a matter of time when the seam starts leaking again as has been the case in the last three attempts to caulk the seam.
3) The Pentair pool light failed with less than a dozen uses. The builder sent another pool company to look at it to ensure it had power and found the lamp was full of water. I've heard nothing on if/when this will be repaired.
4) The Breeze chlorinator that was installed was not generating enough chlorine despite the proper salt level and water chemistry. After speaking with the Breeze technical support they insisted that I run the chlorine generator overnight instead of during the day. This despite the setup for eight hours from 8am to 4pm by Tropical Pools. I've had to shock the pool once a month in order to maintain the proper level of chlorine since the pool was installed in August 2014. The warranty label on the Breeze was stamped for first quarter 2014 despite the pool installation was August 2014. Other pool companies have told me that the Breeze is a poorly manufactured piece of equipment and they don't have it in their testing software.
I did not get even three full years from the Breeze Chlorinator and at my expense had to have a Hayward chlorinator installed. No reimbursement has been offered by the builder or Tropical Pools.
When I first negotiated the home building project with DM Dean Builders I had reservations following my meeting with Tropical pools. I voiced these with the builder representative Matt and he had me talk to the Tropical Pool owner Ralph. Based on Matt's recommendation I allowed Tropical Pool's to install the pool letting Matt know that any problems going forward are to be addressed by Matt & DM Dean. After less than three years into my home my reservations have turned out to be correct.
At one point I suspected the aggregate pebble finish was coming out and a handful was in the pump filter containe3r each time I cleaned the filter cartridge. I called both the builder, Tropical Pools and the Stonescape installer and was assured that he and the manager would come to look at the problem. To date not one person has been by in the last year to look at the problem. After reading the Stonescape warranty I found it was not worth the paper it was written on.

When you spend hundreds of thousands on a new home you expect that the builder first will address any problems, especially with their subcontractors. This turned out to be a false expectation as they throw you to the subcontractor instead of addressing these individuals themselves.

I Tropical Pool did a very good job on the pool in North Port Florida. They have the best prices! They will build a pool around your budget!

Update to my last review. As of today, just two days before Thanksgiving, and I am pleased to tell you that Tropical Pools came through and finished the work on the pool. We can now enjoy our holiday on the lanai as we have been able to move our furnishings outside. Guests have arrived.



A few days after posting my last review, we went to visit the owner and explained our predicament. Meeting him face to face was helpful and although he did tell us of the many issues which could cause a delay in completion, he did come through and completed the work we needed done within 3 days.



The workmanship of the job is superb and I everything looks beautiful!!
